rvlme Terms of Service

Welcome to rvlme. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the rvlme mobile application and related services operated by rvlme Labs, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("rvlme," "we," "our," or "us").

By creating an account or using rvlme, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Community Guidelines. Together, these documents form the agreement between you and rvlme.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use rvlme.

ARBITRATION NOTICE: These Terms contain a binding arbitration clause and class action waiver in Section 13. Except for certain types of disputes, you and rvlme agree to resolve all disputes through individual binding arbitration rather than in court. You have the right to opt out within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Please read Section 13 carefully.

1. Definitions

The following terms have specific meanings throughout these Terms:

  • "Reveal" — a photo and quiz combination created by a Sender and sent to a Receiver.
  • "Revealing" — the act of a Receiver answering the quiz correctly to unlock and view the photo within a Reveal.
  • "Sender" — a registered user who creates and sends a Reveal.
  • "Receiver" — a registered or non-registered user who receives and attempts to unlock a Reveal.
  • "Services" — the rvlme mobile application, website, and all related features and functionality.
  • "Content" — any photos, quiz questions, quiz answers, messages, or other material you create, upload, or transmit through the Services.

2. Eligibility and Age Requirement

rvlme is available to users aged 18 and over only. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are at least 18 years of age;
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement;
  • You are not a convicted sex offender;
  • You are not barred from using the Services under the laws of any applicable jurisdiction;
  • All information you provide during registration is accurate and complete; and
  • You will comply with these Terms and all applicable laws and regulations.

If you misrepresent your age or any other information to gain access to rvlme, your account will be immediately terminated and any claims arising from your unauthorized use are void. rvlme reserves the right to verify your eligibility at any time.

We collect your date of birth at registration and enforce the 18+ requirement at the server level. Users who do not meet the minimum age requirement are blocked from creating an account.

3. The rvlme Service

3.1 How Reveals Work

rvlme allows Senders to create Reveals — photos taken through the live camera combined with a quiz question and answer. Reveals are sent to a Receiver, who must correctly answer the quiz to unlock and view the photo. All photos must be taken using the live in-app camera. Gallery uploads are not permitted.

Reveals remain on the Sender's profile indefinitely until the Sender manually deletes them. On the Receiver's side, a Reveal is accessible for 24 hours from the time it is sent. After 24 hours, the Reveal is no longer viewable by the Receiver, regardless of whether it was opened. If a Sender deletes a Reveal, it is immediately removed from both the Sender's profile and the Receiver's side. If a Sender deletes a Reveal before the Receiver opens it, the Receiver will be notified that the Reveal was deleted.

3.2 Screenshot Protection

rvlme actively prevents screenshots at every stage of the Reveal interaction. Any screenshot attempt — during the quiz phase, at the moment of Revealing, or during any subsequent viewing — will capture a black screen only. The Sender is notified of every screenshot attempt. Screenshot attempts are a violation of these Terms and may result in account action.

3.3 Blocked Users

Reveals and messages sent to a user who has blocked you will not be delivered. Any Reveals or messages sent during a blocked period are permanently discarded and cannot be recovered, even if the block is later removed.

3.4 Camera Use

The rvlme camera is used solely for photo capture. We do not use the camera feed for face detection, liveness checks, or any other purpose beyond creating a Reveal.

4. Your Account

To use rvlme, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information;
  • Keep your account credentials secure and confidential;
  • Notify us immediately at privacy@rvlme.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account;
  • Not create an account if we have previously banned or terminated your account; and
  • Not allow any other person to use your account.

You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

5. Your Content and License to rvlme

5.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of the Content you create through rvlme. Before a Reveal is unlocked, ownership sits with the Sender. After a Reveal has been successfully unlocked, both the Sender and Receiver hold joint ownership of that Reveal. The Sender's right to delete their content and account overrides joint ownership — if a Sender deletes their account, all associated Reveals are permanently removed from both sides.

5.2 License You Grant rvlme

By creating a Reveal, you grant rvlme a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license solely to host, store, transmit, and display your Reveal to your intended Receiver. rvlme will not use your Reveals for any other purpose, including:

  • Marketing, promotion, or advertising;
  • Training machine learning models or improving algorithms; or
  • Any purpose beyond delivering your Reveal to the intended Receiver.

5.3 Your Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for all Content you create and share through rvlme. You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have the necessary rights to all Content you submit;
  • Your Content does not violate the rights of any third party, including intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or rights of publicity;
  • Your Content complies with these Terms, our Community Guidelines, and all applicable laws; and
  • You have obtained the consent of any person who appears in your Reveals.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use rvlme to:

  • Send Reveals or messages to users who have blocked you;
  • Create Reveals designed to harass, coerce, intimidate, or exploit the Receiver;
  • Send non-consensual intimate imagery through a Reveal;
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your identity;
  • Share child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that sexually exploits minors;
  • Make credible threats of violence against any person;
  • Share content promoting terrorism, violent extremism, or hate speech;
  • Attempt to circumvent screenshot protection or any other technical safeguard;
  • Use automated means, bots, or scripts to access or use the Services;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Services;
  • Collect or harvest user data without authorization;
  • Use the Services to develop a competing product or service;
  • Upload viruses, malware, or any code designed to damage or compromise the Services;
  • Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation; or
  • Encourage or assist any other person to engage in any of the above conduct.

7. Enforcement — Strikes, Suspension, and Termination

7.1 Three-Report System

rvlme reviews all reported content. When a report is received and a violation is confirmed, it is logged against the reported account. Violation logs are silent — the reported user is not notified. After three confirmed violations, the account is permanently terminated.

  • Confirmed violation 1: logged silently, no action taken against the user.
  • Confirmed violation 2: logged silently, no action taken against the user.
  • Confirmed violation 3: permanent account termination.

7.2 Immediate Permanent Termination

The following violations will result in immediate and permanent account termination without prior warning, regardless of prior strike history:

  • Sharing child sexual abuse material (CSAM);
  • Sending non-consensual intimate imagery through a Reveal;
  • Using the Reveal mechanic to sexually exploit or coerce a Receiver;
  • Making credible threats of violence against a specific person;
  • Sharing content promoting terrorism or violent extremism; and
  • Identity impersonation used to deceive or harm another person.

7.3 Upon Permanent Termination

Upon permanent termination of your account:

  • Your account will be deleted;
  • Your hashed phone number and device identifier (IDFV) will be retained indefinitely to prevent re-registration; and
  • Where required by law, rvlme will report the violation to relevant authorities, including mandatory reporting of CSAM to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

7.4 Our Right to Act

rvlme reserves the right to remove any Content, suspend, limit, or terminate any account, and take any other action we deem necessary to protect users, enforce these Terms, or comply with applicable law — with or without prior notice.

8. Content Moderation

rvlme does not proactively review or monitor Reveals or messages. When a report is received, rvlme will review the specific reported content. For serious or repeated violations, rvlme reserves the right to review account-level activity and behavioral data in addition to the reported content.

Reported Reveals are preserved and will not be deleted until any investigation is complete.

rvlme will cooperate fully with law enforcement for violations requiring legal escalation.

9. Account Deletion and Data

You may delete your account at any time from within the app. Upon account deletion:

  • All your Reveals will be permanently deleted from both your side and any Receiver's side immediately;
  • Your messages will remain visible to other parties but will be anonymized — your name and identity will be removed; and
  • Receivers will not be notified that you have deleted your account.

Reveals remain on the Sender's profile until manually deleted. If you delete a Reveal, it is immediately removed from both sides. If you delete a Reveal before the Receiver opens it, the Receiver will be notified it was deleted. If a Receiver deletes their account, your Reveal becomes permanently unviewable and is deleted from their side.

On the Receiver's side, Reveals are accessible for 24 hours from the time they are sent. After 24 hours, the Reveal is no longer viewable by the Receiver regardless of account status.

10. Intellectual Property

All rights in the rvlme Services — including the app, design, software, trademarks, logos, and all proprietary technology — belong to rvlme Labs, Inc. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use rvlme's branding, trademarks, or intellectual property without our prior written consent.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the Services without our express written permission.

If you believe any content on rvlme infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us at privacy@rvlme.com with a description of the alleged infringement and supporting documentation.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

rvlme does not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. We are not responsible for Content created, sent, or received by users. You may be exposed to Content that is offensive, inappropriate, or objectionable, for which rvlme bears no responsibility.

rvlme is not responsible for the actions of any user on or off the platform. Use of the Services is at your own risk.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, RVLME, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICES.

IN NO EVENT WILL RVLME'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICES EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) $100 USD OR (B) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID RVLME IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. If these laws apply to you, some of the above limitations may not apply.

13. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration

13.1 Informal Resolution First

Before initiating any formal dispute, you agree to contact rvlme at privacy@rvlme.com and allow 30 days for informal resolution. Most concerns can be resolved this way.

13.2 Binding Arbitration

If informal resolution fails, all disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of rvlme will be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration will be conducted in English. The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding.

13.3 Class Action Waiver

YOU AND RVLME AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS ACTION, CONSOLIDATED ACTION, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims.

13.4 Exceptions to Arbitration

The following disputes are exempt from arbitration and may be brought in the appropriate California state or federal court:

  • Claims within the jurisdiction of small claims court; and
  • Claims seeking injunctive or other equitable relief for intellectual property violations.

13.5 Opt-Out

You may opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these Terms by emailing privacy@rvlme.com with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out" and your full name and account username. If you opt out, all disputes will be resolved in the courts specified in Section 14.

13.6 Survival

This arbitration agreement survives termination of your account or these Terms.

14. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.

For any disputes not subject to arbitration under Section 13, you and rvlme consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless rvlme Labs, Inc., its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to:

  • Your use of the Services;
  • Your Content, including any claim that your Content infringes the rights of a third party;
  • Your breach of these Terms or any applicable law; or
  • Your negligence or willful misconduct.

16. Third-Party Services

rvlme integrates third-party services to deliver the app. These include Supabase, PostHog, Adjust, RevenueCat, OneSignal, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Twilio, and Apple/Google app stores. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. rvlme is not responsible for the practices of any third-party service provider.

In-app purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. rvlme does not collect or store your payment card details. For billing disputes or refund requests, please contact the relevant app store directly.

17. Modifications to the Services and These Terms

rvlme reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Services at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Services.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of rvlme after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using rvlme and delete your account.

18. Termination

You may stop using rvlme and delete your account at any time from within the app settings.

rvlme may restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to the Services at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms, prolonged inactivity, or for legal or safety reasons. Where required, we will provide notice and an opportunity to appeal as described in Section 7.4.

Upon termination, Sections 5.1, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 of these Terms survive and remain in full force.

19. General Provisions

  • Entire Agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, constitute the entire agreement between you and rvlme regarding the Services and supersede all prior agreements.
  • Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
  • No Waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of our right to enforce it in the future.
  • Assignment: You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. rvlme may assign these Terms freely.
  • No Third-Party Beneficiaries: These Terms do not create any third-party beneficiary rights.
